LEARNING ENGLISH GRAMMAR FOR BEGINNERS
There are eight parts of speech in the English language:
- Noun 2. Pronoun 3. Verb 4. Adjective 5. Adverb 6. Preposition 7. Conjunction 8. Interjection.
1. NOUN
Means person or thing Example: Pencil, cat, book, Abdi and work.
Sentences: This is my car.
2. PRONOUN
Means replaces a noun Example: I, you, he, she, it
Sentences: He is very clever.
3. VERB
Means action or state Example: Get, come, cut, open, like
Sentences: I open the door.
4. ADVERB
Means Describe more about verb or adjective Example: Silently, badly, really
Sentences: my cat eats Quickly.
5. ADJECTIVE
Means Describe a noun Example: Small, big, good, well, blue
Sentences: we like big cake.
6. PREPOSITION
Means links a noun to another word Example: At, in, of, on, after, under
Sentences: she was hiding under the table.
7. CONJUNCTION
Means joins clauses or sentences Example: But, and, while, when
Sentences: I am very hungry, but the fridge is empty.
8. INTERJECTION
Means short exclamation Example: Oh!, hi!, ouch!, wow!
Sentences: wow! What a beautiful car!
